There are so many great restaurants in Seattle it is really hard to choose which is the best. From fancy establishments to comfort food hole-in-the-wall places, it all depends upon the mood we are in, right? I am not a food critic but I have been a resident of Seattle all of my life and a realtor for 23 years, where I also get to help people know a neighborhood better and direct them to favorite Seattle restaurants. These top 14 restaurants (in no particular order) might or might not be what you find on Yelp but they are my go to restaurants when I’m in a particular neighborhood. So whether you are out looking at homes, visiting Seattle or just happen to be in a neighborhood that’s not your own, be sure to give these a try and they may just become your favorite Seattle restaurants too. - Thai Siam – Ballard – 8305 15th Ave NW – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
I’ve been to a lot of Thai restaurants and this is by far my favorite. It’s a small quaint restaurant that doesn’t have a lot of elbowroom but the food is fantastic. I have yet to have a bad dish from Thai Siam and to top it off, they host a charity benefit every year and have raised thousands of dollars. Kudos to them.
- Un Bien – Ballard – 7305 15th Ave NW – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
I hate lines but when it comes to seeing them at restaurants, it’s a good thing because that means the food is worth the wait. If sandwiches are your thing, then you’re in for a treat. They serve awesome Caribbean sandwiches that are to die for. Un Bien a walk up food stand so don’t expect a dining experience but they do have some bench seating outside. It’s really for ‘to go’ but so good that I’m betting you’ll be back or maybe decide to move to one of the Ballard Homes for Sale, just to be closer. Really, it might just be that good.
- Kona Kitchen – Northgate – 8501 5th Ave NE – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
Maui is my favorite place to vacation and going to the Kona Kitchen is like hanging loose in Maui. The food is amazing! Try the Fried Rice Loco Moco, Mochiko Chicken or the Short Ribs and see for yourself why this is one of my favorite Seattle restaurants.
You can’t go wrong. While you are at Kona Kitchen, check out the wall of fame. The owner was in the original movie ‘Karate Kid’.
- Ivar’s Salmon House – Wallingford – 401 NE Northlake Way – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
I love going here because of the awesome view. You can’t beat looking out over Lake Union and seeing the skyline of Seattle. Their specialty is salmon and they do it well. A nice quiet atmosphere and great service. Ivar’s Salmon House also has a quick little walk up bar outside if you are in the mood for some good fish and chips.
(Gorgeous view from the outdoor seating at Ivar’s Salmon House)
5. Westward – Wallingford – 2501 N. Northlake Way – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
This award winning restaurant is located right on Lake Union near Gas Works Park and Ivar’s Salmon House. Westward a favorite spot in the Spring and Summer for the outdoor seating, complete with bon fire. Every seat outside has a great view of the lake and city skyline and they even provide big wool blankets if you get a little chilly at night. The food is equally as great at the atmosphere. Josh Henderson, of Huxley Wallace Collective, is the Executive Chef here where they have a ‘water inspired Northwest fare’ menu with a large variety of oysters and other delicious seafood dishes.
- Uneeda Burger – Fremont – 4302 Fremont Ave N. – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
That’s right, you do need a burger at this pick of my favorite Seattle restaurants. One of my favorite foods is hamburgers so I must mention a good hamburger place. Every one of Uneeda Burgers are mouthwatering, unbelievable, 2 hands and with 10 napkins. The shakes and other sides are equally as delicious. You walk out full but you want more. It has a great relaxed atmosphere so kick back relax and enjoy.
- Bongos – Greenlake – 6501 Aurora Ave N. – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
Another great laid back spot with delicious food, is Bongos. They feature Caribbean and Cuban food with outdoor seating in the warmer and dryer months. Bongos is mainly known for their sandwiches and yucca fries. The ‘1am’ and ‘Desi’ sandwiches are popular and tasty choices.
- 5 spot – Queen Anne – 1502 Queen Anne Ave N. – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
1950 diner meets the 21st century. This place is awesome and is a staple of Queen Anne. 5 Spot blue plate specials are always really good and the atmosphere is wonderful. I try to come to this one of my favorite Seattle restaurants every time I’m on Queen Anne.
- Endolyne Joe’s – West Seattle – 9261 45th Ave SW – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
I fully enjoy this restaurant. Their menus are always changing, serving food all around the world but you can always get quality American comfort food too. The atmosphere of Endolyne Joe’s is great and a perfect local hangout.
- Palisade Restaurant – Magnolia – 2601 W. Marina Pl. – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
For special occasions, a business meeting or just lunch on the water this place has exquisite taste atmosphere and elegance. Palisade is fine dining at its best. Maybe celebrate a birthday here and see why it’s one of my favorite Seattle restaurants.
- Black Bottle – Belltown – 2600 1st – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
This hip gastro-tavern in Seattle features delicious small plates that are great for sharing. Besides their tasty dishes, they are also known for their unique craft cocktails. Black Bottle also has a pretty good happy hour from 4-6pm, private space to host small events and patio seating, depending on the weather.
- Island Soul Restaurant – Columbia City – 4869 Rainier Ave S. – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
Columbia city is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country and diverse restaurants are all over but this one is one of my favorites, with its Caribbean inspired soul food. Island Soul is a small restaurant but big in flavor. Try their Sweet Plantains appetizer or their Island Soul BBQ. Those are a big reason it makes the list of my favorite Seattle restaurants.
- Palomino Restaurant and Bar – Downtown – 1420 5th – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
This restaurant has unbelievable meals, fantastic wine selection, and in a wonderful location of downtown. Treat yourself to Palomino when looking for a top-notch restaurant.
- Dicks Drive-in – Broadway – 115 Broadway E. – Favorite Seattle Restaurants
It’s 10 o’clock, you’re out cruising around and all of a sudden, you’re hungry. You have to take a trip all the way to Capitol Hill just for the experience. A Dick’s Special, a shake and greasy fries always hits the spot. With the diverse crowd and neighborhood, Dicks Drive-in on Capitol Hill, is usually also enjoyable for people watching so just sit back, enjoy your meal and watch. This is one of the more popular late night favorite Seattle restaurants among many, but they taste just as good any time of the day.
Whatever food mood, budget or neighborhood you’re in, I hope this has given you something delicious to try. Seattle is full of amazing dining options, with new ones coming in every day, so it’s hard to know all of the top spots but these are my favorite Seattle restaurants.
